Dogs experience heartbreak, too. It might not seem like we can understand how, but it’s obvious to anyone who has owned one.

Anytime a tragic event happens to some of us, seeing a sad dog go through the same thing just makes it even more difficult to bear.

In this story, we will talk about a sweet dog who was seriously depressed after his owner passed.

Sweet Sammy

Even though she was only 12 weeks old, Sammy had loved her dad more than anything, and she was just so heartbroken when he passed.

Fortunately, for her, two EMTs in Fort Worth, Texas, noticed her situation and decided to help in any way they could.

Tegan Silva, one of the EMTs, told The Dodo: I noticed the puppy cuddled up next to the patient, so I picked her up. The puppy was crying in my arms.

They saw that she was just so scared, and that she didn’t want to leave the only family she had, but there was no other option.

Kirk, the other EMT, did some digging and realized it was either an animal shelter for Sammy or a new life. The two brave EMTs had chosen the second option and took her in.

A Kind Gesture

Sliva said: We took her to the ambulance while we were putting our equipment away. We cleaned her up with wet wipes because she was covered in dust, and we gave her water.

To make sure she was taken care of while they worked, Kirk’s girlfriend had volunteered to watch over Sammy.

Before the night was over, she had found her new family. Kirk and his partner had decided to adopt her and give her a new life.

Sliva said: She is now Kirk’s dog and has a big sister named Kaley. She is very playful and loves to run with her. She is loving life.

Sammy is still very small, but she certainly knows how to act big around her new sibling. Seeing the two enjoy their time together is just adorable.

Despite having to go through such a heartbreak so early on in life, Sammy was given a new chance to live an amazing life with the people who already loved her so much.

She is truly a lucky dog to have found such a wonderful family and I wish them all the best on their new adventures.
