A dog, whose body is covered in tumors, was abandoned this week and then saved. Her name is Libby and on Wednesday night, she found herself held at the Los Angeles Animal Services – East Valley Shelter after she was “left by an unknown person” outside of a rescue agency after closing time.

Photos of the senior dog quickly began circulating on social media – the number of tumors on her body completely shocking to all who viewed the sad images. As concern grew for Libby’s future, word came that the dog was safe.

On Thursday, Tina Marie Lythgoe, with Josh and his critters rescue, issued a public Facebook post notifying concerned dog lovers that Libby is safe:

I JUST WANT TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW WE RESCUED A DOG TODAY OUT OF THE SHELTER NAMED LIBBY. I’M NOT GOING TO POST PICTURES. I DON’T WANT TO UPSET YOU & I’M NOT ASKING FOR ANY DONATIONS. BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW SHE IS SAFE AND SHE WILL BE SEEING OUR BOARD-CERTIFIED SURGEON OVER AT ACCESS SPECIALTY ANIMAL HOSPITAL FOR 3 PM.

She commented on Libby’s dismal condition:

I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT IN MY LIFE. THERE ARE SOME PICTURES CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA OF HER AND THOSE PICTURES DO NOT DO IT JUSTICE. IT’S BAD THE WORST I’VE EVER SEEN.
